Success for Salford Quays retail outlet

Salford Quays’ Lowry Outlet Mall has seen year-on-year footfall increase by seven and five per cent respectively in February and March, while comparative sales were up by six per cent in both months.

The retail hub reports that first quarter sales grew by three per cent compared to the same period in 2009, and footfall grew by two per cent.

Centre manager Robert Hallworth put the good performance down to its array of strong brands such as Marks & Spencer, Whistles, Flannels, Austin Reed and Nike, as well as a targeted marketing campaign to increase footfall.

Other retailers with a presence at the outlet centre include Donnay, Suits You, Whittards of Chelsea, Wax Lyrical, Bodum, Denby and Black & Decker.

The mall’s position in the heart of the Golden Triangle, which is made up of the Lowry theatre, Imperial War Museum and the soon-to-be-opened MediaCity site, is set to ensure a healthy future is in store too.

Mr Hallworth said: “We’re off to good start and are cautiously optimistic about 2010. We already have a great product mix and there are some very exciting retailers lined up to join us later in the year.”
