Poland : Fashion House attracts new brands

Fashion House Outlet Centre, one of the largest chains of outlet centers in Poland, has announced that more than 10 new shops opened in its centers in Piaseczno, Gdańsk and Sosnowiec in the closing weeks of 2008

Among the new brands that the centers attracted were sports apparel manufacturers Hummel and Umbro, jeans producer Big Star, leatherwear company VIP Collection and home-design retailer Home Studio.

“The outlet sale formula ... is a business development solution for more difficult times, when buyers think twice before spending every złoty but are used to the situation before the crisis and are unwilling to retreat from proven, high-quality products,” said Katarzyna Czapran, Fashion House Gdańsk’s marketing manager. She added that the Polish outlet market’s development was driven by domestic and international producers of prestigious brands whose interest in securing new sale channels was growing proportionately to the scale of the economic crisis.

Opened in 2004 and 2005, Fashion House outlet center projects are financed by The Outlet Company, a firm owned by a group of Flemish and English developers. The firm is currently expanding its Sosnowiec center and planning new outlet center projects in Poznań, Wrocław and Szczecin.
