Work has started on the redevelopment of Freeport Hornsea Outlet Shopping Village, the first outlet shopping village to open in the UK. On completion of the £6m three-phase redevelopment almost 50,000 sq ft will have been added or remodelled at the centre.
Phase I will bring 12,000 sq ft of new or refurbished retail space to the centre this year. Existing tenants that have already signed new leases including Regatta, Charles Clinkard, Waterford Wedgewood and the Wedding Collection. A 2,600-sq ft unit has been taken by Pavers Footwear and letting agents Rohleder Lumby Retail and asset manager Debbie Reynolds Property have a number of other lettings in solicitors’ hands.
Design and planning of Phase II - which will see the redevelopment of the only undercover section of the outlet shopping village - is well under way and work will commence towards the end of 2008
Mark Johnstone of Rohleder Lumby Retail said: "Once the development is complete, and new retailers in place, this popular outlet shopping village will not only reaffirm its position as one of the East Coast’s major attractions to existing customers but will increase its appeal to the younger end of the market within the 30-45 mile catchment area."
