Fashionistas beware style critic Gok Wan is on his way to Gloucester.

The style guru is set to officially open the city’s newest shopping centre.

Gok will be dishing out his famous style advice when the Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet centre opens its doors on May 30.

His visit is part of a 10-day celebration which begins on May 21 when shoppers can take their first look inside the state-of-the-art facility.

A national fashion icon made famous by TV shows such as How to Look Good Naked and Gok’s Fashion Fix, Gok, 34 will take part in a photo call in the main Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet where he will declare the centre officially open.

While at Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet, Gok will also be giving three 30-minute VIP ’audience with Gok’ sessions

And The Citizen will be giving away 300 tickets to the sessions at a later date.

Using models he will explain how best to achieve up to the minute looks with designer style at discounted prices through shopping at Gloucester Quays.

Gok will also be taking part in a book signing in the outlet centre malls. Eager fashion followers can meet the star and have their copy of his legendary style books signed by him in person.

Gok Wan’s fashion advice is renowned as he transforms the ordinary in to the extraordinary, plain in to quirky, and basic in to stylish. His hugely successful show ’How to Look Good Naked’ has made him a household name and his style books including ’How to Look Good Naked’ and ’How to Dress’ have been huge hits making his advice golden!

Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, said it was fantastic to have such a prominent name opening the centre.

He said: "It is very exciting to have Gok coming to Gloucester.

"For a development of the size and quality of the quays we were hoping for a big name and I am pleased Gok has been confirmed. This will only add to the excitement which is already building as more names are announced."

Franco Muccini, centre director said Gok was the ideal choice. He said: "Gok Wan is extremely popular and has some fantastic fashion advice for savvy shoppers who won’t sacrifice on style despite the credit crunch.

"He is the perfect person to officially open the centre and demonstrate how shoppers on a budget can still achieve that fashionable look by shopping at Gloucester Quays"
