MOVE over Kate Moss – Gloucester is the new style icon.
The city is featured in a four-page spread in October’s Vogue magazine which has the famous supermodel on the cover.
Our historic Docks are the centre-piece for the arty advert for the new Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet.
In the shots models pose next to iconic boats, including a ship in dry dock and a canal barge.
The last page of the spread even shows the famous warehouses, with the models posing on the deck of the Johanna Lucretia which is moored in the Docks.
A single page advert in Vogue costs upwards of £20,000.
Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council, said he was delighted the city is featured in the style bible.
He said: "It looks stunning and very slick and in terms of putting the city on the map it will be massive."
The advert promotes the new centre as a major shopping destination for the south west and plays in the history of Gloucester Docks.
It says: "Spring 2009 will see the opening of a stunning new designer outlet centre, the focal point of a fabulous iconic £400million waterside retail and leisure development close to the historic centre of Gloucester.
"For the first time in many years Gloucester Quays will be landing exotic cargoes from around the world, but this time from some of the world’s finest fashion labels."
The Gloucester Quays development will include 100 designer outlet stores, a hotel, cinema, apartments along with waterside bars and restaurants.
