Gap returns to Newcastle

Fashion chain Gap has returned to Newcastle through the opening of an outlet store.

Gap Outlet have taken 7000 sq ft at Royal Quays Outlet Centre as a part of its UK expansion programme. The chain had a previous shop in the city, but closed a few years ago.

It has taken a five-year lease on a turnover basis.

Peter Everest of WD, the asset manager appointed to the scheme in 2006, said: ’I welcome GAP as the final piece of our restructuring of Royal Quays after acquiring it some 3 years ago. Gap join the other anchors, Marks & Spencer Outlet, Next, Nike, and Clarks’.

Letting agents for Royal Quays are Brian Oakwell & Co and Sanderson Wetherall. Michael Peddar & Co acted for Gap.
